We are pleased to give the following tips to those who will be travelling this holiday. These tips are meant to make your trip safe and enjoyable:

  1. Check your vehicle maintenance schedule

If you have not checked lately, right before a long trip is a good time to check your regular maintenance schedule to see if there is anything that needs be done. Your owner’s manual is the best place to find the recommended maintenance schedule by mileage for your specific vehicle. If your owner’s manual has disappeared, like a sock in the dryer, google the make, model and year of your car. Most car manuals are now online.

  2. Fix all pending repairs (no matter how small)

Fix every repair that you would have identified, even the smallest ones. This will go a long way in insuring you have a great trip.

  3. Check your fluids

Please make sure you check your oil, washer fluid and coolant. These fluids are very important. Make sure your vehicle has the recommended amount and this can also be done during the trip.

  4. Check your tyres

Tyre condition – Make sure your tyres are not worn out and also get recommendations and advise on your tyre tread from your nearest garage (you need this, it looks like it’s going to be a wet Easter)

Tyre pressure – always put enough pressure (as recommended on the tyres) Vehicle load- please do not overload your vehicle, tyres have recommended loads on them make sure you adhere to these all the time

    Don’t forget your spare wheel!!!

  5. Brake Check

The last thing you want is to have a brake problem while cruising along the highway during peak travel times. Make sure your brakes are in good condition before you head out.

Make sure there is no excessive squeaking or grinding sounds when you brake. Also check if you have enough brake fluid.

  6. Emergency Kit

This Kit should contain at least, a set of jumper cables, first aid kit, reserve water and food and a small tool kit.

  7. All relevant paper work should be in the car

    • Proof of Car Insurance (make sure its CBZ Insurance cover)
    • ZINARA License (you can also get it from selected CBZ Bank Branches)
    • Vehicle Registration
    • Driver’s License
    • Road Side Assistance Contact Number
    • Owner’s manual
  8. Most of all remember

Leave Early, Drive Slowly and live Longer!

This Easter Holiday we are encouraging the nation to drive as if everyone on the road is one of your family members. Happy Holidays!
